Our Practice & Team

Dr. Kaloti enjoys helping people, both at personally and professionally, and have fun while doing so. She always knew she wanted a job that allowed her to do that, and spent her childhood babysitting, lifeguarding, teaching swimming lessons, and volunteering in the geriatrics unit of her local hospital. She enjoys working with patients of all ages.

Dr. Kaloti started studying dentistry in 2000 and graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with her DMD. After practicing dentistry for five years, she decided to take some time to focus on building her family. When she returned to work, Dr. Kaloti and Dr. Minhas decided to partner up and open up West 85th Dental. Their vision was to create a warm, inviting office and a pleasant and relaxing experience that would make their patients look forward to visiting.

At West 85th Dental, we pride ourselves on providing comprehensive dental care to all our patients by providing thorough examinations, explaining our findings clearly, educating our patients about oral hygiene, and providing multiple treatment options that allow our patients to make educated decisions about their health and care.

When Dr. Kaloti is not seeing patients, she spends her time doing charity runs, water sports, pilates, and spending time with her family.

Dr. Minhas was born and raised in Calgary, and after completing his dental training at the University of Alberta in 2008, returned home to practice. He opened West 85th Dental with Dr. Kaloti in 2013 and has now been practicing dentistry for over ten years.

Dr. Minhas enjoys all aspects of general dentistry, from pediatric dentistry to surgical dentistry. When he is not working Dr. Minhas enjoys spending time with his wife Laurie and four children.

Zanna joined the West 85th Dental family in 2014. She brings over 20 years of dental administrative experience to the office. She loves her job, her coworkers and how they work hard to create an environment that is caring and respectful while providing incomparable dental care to each and every patient.

Her favourite part of her job is interacting with our patients, and working hard to ensure that each patient feels comfortable and welcome when they arrive for their appointment. Zanna also works hard to ensure all of our billing and insurance processing goes as smoothly as possible.

In her free time, Zanna enjoys spending time with her family, baking croissant decorating cakes, and travelling. Some of her favourite foreign destinations include Spain, Turkey and Italy. Her dream is to retire in a sunny country with no snow.

Sherry has been practicing dental hygiene for over twenty seven years in Calgary. She is a life-long learner that enjoys opportunities involving industry courses and experiential learning that allows her to expand her knowledge.

As a dental health professional with a strong work ethic, Sherry is dedicated to providing comprehensive and empathetic patient-centric preventative care. She believes that good dental hygiene practices play a critical role in every patient’s oral health plan and strives to exceed expectations both within her industry and with her patients.

Sherry and her husband have a son and a daughter. When Sherry is not in the office, she spends her time on volunteer boards and being active outdoors with her family and friends.

Genna was born and raised in Calgary and graduated from SAIT in 2014. She has been working alongside Dr. Minhas and Dr. Kaloti ever since. Genna loves helping our team create beautiful smiles, providing restorative and endodontic treatments, and helping our littlest patients overcome their fear of the dentist’s office. She finds her work at West 85th Dental extremely rewarding.

Genna loves expanding her knowledge and approaches each day as a new learning opportunity that can help her improve her skills and expand her dental knowledge.

When Genna is not at work, she enjoys spending time with her family, particularly her nieces and nephews and her English bulldog, Kaia, as well as doing strength training and boxing.

Ali has been a practicing dental assistant for 20 years. She is extremely happy to have joined the team at West 85th. She appreciates the preventative & conservative dentistry practiced here.

Ali really enjoys the conversations she has with her patients. Patient care and answering questions is her favourite part of being in dentistry.

When not working she is spending time with her husband and her dog, Mr. Furley.

She is a fan of film, especially documentaries & horror. She loves exploring large cities, including finding new interesting things to do in Calgary.

She could not turn a taco down, if her life depended on it.

Lisa was born in Winnipeg however, she moved to Calgary with her family when she was 10 years old. She graduated from SAIT and has been a Dental Assistant for over 20 years. She enjoys learning and expanding her knowledge of the dental field.

She enjoys spending time with her family travelling. She has two boys, and loves helping people. When Lisa was younger, she babysat, volunteered at the Children’s Hospital, and volunteered teaching swimming lessons.

“I should have known I would have ended up in the dental world since when I was a child and used to make retainers out of paperclips and tape because I always wanted a retainer like my best friend growing up”.

Laurie has been enthusiastically working as a Registered Dental Hygienist since 2001. She is very involved with her profession and volunteer not only in the community of Calgary, but also with the College of Registered Dental Hygienists of Alberta governing body.

Over her career, she has had the wonderful opportunity to teach other dental professionals the use of Lasers in dental hygiene across North America. She has worked passionately as a Myofunctional therapist while working in orthodontics for over 5 years. Having worked in Ontario, Saskatchewan, Texas and Alberta, She has had a variety of practice settings to work in and obtained advanced restricted activities allowing her to provide Local Anaesthesia, Nitrous Oxide/Oxygen Conscious Sedation, do Orthodontic procedures and prescribe limited schedule 1 drugs.

Working in the dental field has been the perfect fit for her. Even after 20 some-odd years, there isn’t a single day that she is not excited to come to work! She is a busy mom to 4 kiddos and 1 fur baby. She personally loves the outdoors, but really spends most of her free time driving her kids all around town. 😉

Janelle is a registered dental hygienist at West 85th Dental. She graduated from the University of Alberta 24 years ago with her BSc specialization in Dental Hygiene and continues to strive to become a better hygienist with each passing year. While learning and continuing to grow is a life long commitment, connecting with patients is her passion. When she’s not in the clinic, you can find her running, doing yoga, and keeping up with her kids!

Stephanie was born and raised in Alberta spending most of her time in Calgary . She has Nova Scotia roots and spends a good portion of her summer there. Stephanie is a proud mother of two and enjoys spending her free time with her husband watching their kids start their journeys in sports and activities . Stephanie’s hobbies include sports ,travel and food .Stephanie has been a registered dental assistant since 2009 and loves all areas of dentistry. Besides seeing the benefits of good oral health impact patients, her favourite part of dentistry is getting to know the patients that come through the office doors.

Shannon Binder was born and raised in Saskatchewan. She moved to Edmonton to start her Academic career at the University of Alberta, studying sciences. It was that stepping stone that brought her into the field of dentistry. She attended the Dental Assisting program at NAIT, where upon completion, she moved to Calgary to start working in general practice. In her first year as an RDA, she attended multiple courses through the Las Vegas Institute of Advanced Dental Esthetics (LVI).  The next year, she had the opportunity to further her dental career by moving to Regina to attend the Dental Hygiene program at SIAST.  After receiving her certification of Dental Hygiene in 2005, her love of Calgary and the mountains brought her back to the city to begin her Dental Hygiene career. Her profession has allowed her to empower her patients to achieve optimal oral wellness through her compassionate and knowledgeable approach. She continuously looks for opportunities to enhance her skills by attending conferences and webinars. Shannon is knowledgeable in administering local anesthetic, writing prescriptions, laser therapy, and has most recently became certified as a Guided Biofilm Therapy provider.  

When not at the clinic, she is busy raising 3 daughters with her husband, Stuart. As a family they enjoy heading to the mountains, skiing and biking adventures.  She also enjoys running, volunteering for her kids’ school events, planning Girl Guide meetings, or trying out new restaurants with friends.
